This update highlights significant changes within a prominent faction of the gaming industry, reflecting shifts in structure and strategic direction.

Swedish gaming powerhouse Embracer, located in Karlstad, has announced plans to separate Coffee Stain Group from its core operations. The independent publisher behind popular titles such as Valheim, Satisfactory, Goat Simulator, and Deep Rock Galactic achieved revenue exceeding £77 million during its most recent fiscal period.

Embracer’s chief executive expressed strong confidence in the independent unit, emphasizing its wealth of creative talent, robust intellectual properties, and vibrant communities. He acknowledged the effective strategy and leadership under Anton, viewing the move as an opportunity to form deeper partnerships with independent game creators.

In its latest quarterly performance report, the company revealed an adjusted operating profit for the fourth quarter of SEK 1,077 million (approximately £84 million), marking a three per cent increase from the same period last year. Additionally, the adjusted operating profit itself reached SEK 544 million (around £42 million).

The firm is also set to undergo a rebranding and will henceforth be known as Fellowship Entertainment. This change will affect over 6,000 employees as well as several of its associated companies, including:

  • Crystal Dynamics
  • Dark Horse
  • THQ Nordic
  • Warhorse Studios
  • and many others
While no specific motive for the renaming was provided, the Embracer identity will persist in the form of a private holding entity.
